Grapes: 100% Chardonnay
Guy Roulot, a legendary producer of some of the finest Meursault, if not some of the world’s finest white wines, took his family’s small production domaine to stardom. Since his death in 1982, his son Jean-Marc has brought even more notice to a domaine that had already enjoyed a great reputation. The wines of Domaine Roulot are now among the most sought after wines in all of Burgundy.
Every wine here begins in the vineyard — carefully tended, low-yielding plots that express Meursault’s cooler, mineral side rather than its broader, buttery past. The 2023 vintage reflects that ethos perfectly: poised, luminous, and deeply articulate.
Whole clusters are pressed gently, with fermentation carried out by native yeasts and élevage in fine French oak (a modest proportion new). The wine spends nearly a year on its lees, developing quiet complexity without losing its crystalline freshness.
Aromas of white blossom, citrus oil, and crushed chalk open into layers of ripe pear, hazelnut, and sea breeze. The palate is sleek and tensile — fruit wrapped around a line of minerality that drives through to a long, saline finish. It’s a wine of balance and composure — unmistakably Meursault, yet crafted with Roulot’s signature restraint.
