Grapes: 95% of Sangiovese, with a splash of Canaiolo and Colorino
From the hills of Chianti Classico, Pietramaggio is a small, family-run estate working with organically farmed vineyards and a focus on traditional expressions of the region. Their approach centers on balance and transparency, allowing Sangiovese to reflect both site and vintage without excess.
The Riserva is only made in the best vintages and is comprised 95% of Sangiovese, with a splash of Canaiolo and Colorino. It comes from the same high-elevation clay and limestone vineyard as the Chianti Classico, located at 1,500 feet above sea level, but is aged an additional six months in oak.
Refined and layered, it shows notes of red cherry, dried plum, and violet, with hints of cedar, spice, and earth. The palate is medium-bodied and structured, with fine tannins and bright acidity carrying through a long, savory finish. A natural pairing for roasted meats, pasta with ragù, or aged cheeses.
