On one of the Mosel’s overlooked terraces, Julian and Hermann Ludes coax clarity and precision from vines that cling to nearly vertical slate. The 2022 vintage of their “Thörnicher Ritsch” Kabinett captures the site’s crystalline edge and the estate’s quietly exacting hand.
Grapes were pressed gently, fermented slowly to retain energy and minerality, and finished with a brisk touch of residual sugar to balance its steely structure. No oak, no excess — just site, vine and vintage in clean, expressive form.
Aromas of white peach, lime zest and wet stone rise from the glass, followed by hints of green tea and fresh herbs. The palate is vibrant and pure — orchard fruit meets fine acidity and a crisp slate-driven seam that carries through to a refreshingly dry finish. A Kabinett of finesse: approachable now, yet layered for thoughtful enjoyment.
