“Aus dem Kalk” — literally from the limestone — is Wenzel’s most refined take on Blaufränkisch, a red that channels minerality as much as fruit. This bottling captures the grape’s natural energy and depth in equal measure: all dark fruit, fine structure, and quiet confidence.
Fermented with native yeasts and aged on fine lees, the wine balances Burgenland’s warmth with precision and lift. Aromas of black cherry, wild herbs, and crushed stone give way to subtle notes of violet and spice. The palate is focused and elegant — ripe fruit framed by taut acidity and mineral grip, finishing long and pure with a chalky edge.
