Springbank is one of Scotch whisky’s great survivors: an independent, family-owned distillery in Campbeltown that still carries out the entire production process on site, from malting its own barley to bottling the finished whisky. Its traditional, hands-on approach and tiny production have made Springbank one of the most sought-after names in Scotch.
The 12 Year Old Cask Strength is a limited-release expression bottled without dilution to a standard strength, allowing each batch to show its own character. Matured for 12 years in a changing combination of casks depending on the release, it is non-chill filtered and bottled without added color. Springbank’s lightly peated malt and distinctive partial triple-distillation method give it a character all its own.
Rich, powerful, and wonderfully complex, expect dried fruit, citrus peel, salted caramel, toasted nuts, and warming spice, alongside Springbank’s signature maritime salinity and gentle smoke. Despite its strength, there’s remarkable balance and freshness underneath. Superb neat, but a few drops of water open up another layer entirely.
