Grapes: Pinot Noir & Chardonnay.
Few Champagnes have a story quite like Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill. The British Prime Minister was famously devoted to Pol Roger, developing a close friendship with Odette Pol-Roger and making the house's Champagne his preferred pour. Following his death, the family created this exceptional cuvée in his honour, releasing the first vintage in 1984. The exact blend remains a closely guarded secret, but the philosophy is simple: create a Champagne worthy of Churchill himself.
Produced only in exceptional vintages, Sir Winston Churchill is made exclusively from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown in Grand Cru vineyards, with Pinot Noir taking the lead. The 2015 vintage was marked by a warm, dry growing season, giving the wine impressive concentration and richness. Extended ageing in Pol Roger's famously deep, cool cellars brings the complexity and refinement that distinguish this cuvée from the house's other Champagnes.
The bouquet opens with layers of pear, toasted brioche, hazelnut, and citrus zest. On the palate, richness and tension intertwine — ripe orchard fruit, crème brûlée, and chalky minerality carried by fine, persistent bubbles. The finish is long, elegant, and quietly commanding. A Champagne of presence and restraint — equally suited to grand celebrations or moments of quiet reflection.
