François Millet spent more than three decades as the winemaker at Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, helping produce some of Burgundy's most celebrated wines. Now, alongside his son Adrien, he's embarked on a new chapter with a small négociant project exploring vineyards beyond the famous names of the Côte d'Or. It's an exciting opportunity to experience the touch of one of Burgundy's great winemakers in some rather unexpected places.
Les Chaniots comes from Montagny, at the southern end of the Côte Chalonnaise, a region we think deserves far more attention for its Chardonnay. The 2023 vintage brings a little extra generosity, while the Millets' thoughtful approach to élevage gives the wine texture and complexity without losing the freshness that makes Montagny so appealing.
Ripe pear, lemon and golden apple meet white flowers, toasted almond and a gentle touch of spice. There's a lovely richness through the middle, balanced by bright acidity and a subtle mineral quality that keeps everything beautifully focused. The finish is long, clean and gently savoury. A wonderful alternative to more expensive white Burgundy, and a bottle that deserves a place at the dinner table. Try it with scallops, roast chicken, grilled turbot or a creamy mushroom risotto.

- For returns of wines which are corked, please re-seal after tasting and return us the (nearly) full bottle. We cannot exchange if the bottle has been consumed.
