Grapes: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc
Discover the second wine of the Continuum Estate, Novicium, from the same famed slopes of Sage Mountain. The 2018 vintage brings together the wine’s hallmark depth with a subtle clarity of line: not overly showy, but powerful and carefully shaped.
Fermented and aged with respect to balance (firm oak presence but not dominant), the wine delivers vineyard character front and center: weight and structure from the Cabernet core; tension and lift from the mountain’s mineral backbone.
In the glass, initial aromas of black cherry, currant and graphite rise first, underscored by a subtle undercurrent of forest floor, graphite dust, and a whisper of spice. On the palate, dark fruit — cassis, plum skin, deep blackberry — meets firm but fine-grained tannins and a mineral-tinged core of iron and slate. The mid-palate holds a sinewy structure, while the finish carries a saline-like persistence, a lingering note of pepper and graphite, and enough grip to suggest long life ahead.
This is a Novicium that balances power with precision — muscular, but composed; bold, yet measured. It’s a wine for those drawn to Napa Cabernet framed with mountain austerity rather than plush indulgence.
