Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir
In the remote slopes of Patagonia, Bodega Chacra has made a name for elegant, site-driven Pinot Noir that rivals much higher-priced European counterparts. Their “Cincuenta y Cinco” bottling — named for the year the vineyard was planted (1955) — embodies this vision with striking clarity, tension and minerality.
Fermented with 100% whole-cluster fruit and aged for approximately 11 months in large concrete vats (50%) and seasoned French oak (50%), the 2023 vintage focuses on purity of site rather than overt oak or extraction. The result is a wine that feels simultaneously fluid and precise.
On the nose, aromas of wild cherry, blood orange peel, and rose stem mingle with hints of forest floor and sea breeze. The palate is refined yet vivid — bright red fruit framed by fine tannins, electric acidity, and a steely mineral core. The finish is long, fresh and clean — a testament to Patagonia’s cool night temperatures and wind-scoured terroir.
