Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir
Ghislaine Barthod is one of Chambolle-Musigny’s pioneers of elegance. Her wines are cultivated in small parcels scattered through the appellation, and the 2022 Chambolle is a perfect example of her knack for capturing Burgundy’s silk and perfume without sacrificing structure.
Made with organic practices, partly destemmed Pinot Noir, she uses gentle punch-downs in open-top wooden vats, followed by élevage in French oak (a portion new, but well balanced) for around 18–20 months. The aim: let the fruit breathe, show its tension, and let the soil do its speaking.
You’ll find a nose of ripe cherry, plum, and strawberry, with a swirl of forest floor, rose petal, and maybe a whisper of earth/mushroom. On the palate it’s graceful yet vivid — red fruit core, fine tannins, a subtle acidity that lifts, and a finish that’s long, perfumed, and satisfying. This is a wine that dances with food — roast poultry, duck, game birds, or even richer fish dishes.
