Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir
Red Sancerre?! Yep, it's a thing!
In the limestone hills west of the village of Crézancy, Daniel Chotard crafts Sancerre reds that feel both classic and quietly revelatory. The “Chant de l’Archet” — literally “Song of the Bow” — is a lyrical expression of Pinot Noir grown on the same flinty, chalk-rich soils that define the region’s great whites. It’s a wine that bridges delicacy and depth, showing how Burgundy’s northern cousin can sing with its own voice.
The fruit is hand-picked from older vines, fermented with native yeasts, and aged partly in neutral oak, partly in stainless steel. The aim: to capture purity and perfume, not weight. The result is a Pinot of transparency and charm — light on its feet, long in its finish.
Aromas of cherry, raspberry, and crushed rose mingle with hints of graphite and wild herbs. The palate is elegant and fresh, offering fine tannins and a subtle mineral line that carries through to a precise, stony close. It’s Sancerre’s quiet secret — a red that refreshes, seduces, and surprises all at once.
