Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with small portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot
Ulysses vineyard was acquired in 2008 by Christian Moueix. Situated along Napa Valley’s Oakville bench and extending over an alluvial fan at the foot of the Mayacamas Range, the site was once part of the famed Charles Hopper ranch and it is exceptional for winegrowing. The 2014 vintage, from a warm but even growing season, offers a beautifully resolved expression of the vineyard’s quiet strength.
Fermented with native yeasts and aged in French oak (around 40% new) for 18 months, the wine is at once classical and modern. Aromas of blackcurrant, graphite, and dried herbs unfold slowly, joined by subtle notes of cedar, violet, and cocoa. The palate is layered and disciplined — dark fruit framed by fine tannins and vibrant acidity, tapering into a long, mineral finish that feels both pure and poised.
