At the iconic estate co-founded by Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the 2022 vintage of Opus One is a study in refinement despite a challenging growing season. The team fermented separate blocks with care, moved into French oak for aging for 18 months, and focused on capturing tension, clarity and dimension more than sheer weight.
Aromatics open with blackcurrant, dark cherry, graphite and cassis, mingled with incense and cedar. On the palate the wine is poised and elegant — dark fruit framed by polished tannins, a cool mineral thread and a lingering finish of spice and forest floor. It carries full-bodied intent without losing finesse, making it both appealing now and built for the cellar.
