Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo
In the rugged eastern stretch of the Barolo zone, Cerretta is a vineyard that trades softness for shape — a site where Nebbiolo grows taut, finely etched and naturally expressive. At Brandini, the Bagnasco sisters frame that character with a light touch, letting the cru’s tension and aromatics lead rather than cellar influence. The 2019 vintage shows their approach at its most assured: precise, floral and quietly powerful.
Fermentation unfolds slowly with native yeasts, followed by aging in large neutral casks to preserve detail rather than impart sweetness or spice. The long, gentle élevage gives the wine time to knit while keeping its edges clean and lifted.
The aromas lean toward wild cherry, rose petal and a dusting of dried herbs, with a subtle mineral scent that speaks of the vineyard’s stony soils. The palate is refined and vertical — red fruit carried by bright acidity, firm but polished tannins, and a finish that hums with stony tension. It’s a Barolo that feels sculpted rather than built, offering both early charm and years of evolution ahead.
