Grapes: 100% Chardonnay
This is a Chardonnay with some serious, and we mean serious, pedigree and wine making.
Bodega Chacra was founded by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, the grandson of the creator one of the most famous Tuscan wineries, Sassicaia. Their Chardonnay project is a collaboration with none other than the legendary Burgundian wine maker, Jean-Marc Roulot.
The 2025 Chardonnay comes from mature vines growing on the ancient alluvial soils of the Río Negro Valley. Picking is deliberately early and malolactic fermentation is avoided, while maturation takes place across French oak, concrete and stainless steel. The result is a wine with impressive depth, but very little sense of winemaking getting in the way.
Lemon and green apple lead into pear, white flowers and a subtle nutty note, with a wonderfully savory, almost salty quality emerging through the palate. There’s texture without heaviness and a bright line of acidity that keeps everything moving through a long, focused finish. Serious Chardonnay, and one that should be fascinating with a little bottle age. Try it with scallops, grilled fish, roast chicken or lobster.
