A Perry's favorite, Krug is born from the dream of one man, Joseph Krug, to craft the very best Champagne he could offer, every single year, regardless of annual variations in climate. Its Rosé, first introduced in 1983, takes that philosophy in a particularly adventurous direction, combining the complexity of Krug's multi-vintage approach with the character of traditionally macerated Pinot Noir.
The 29th Edition is built around the 2017 harvest, complemented by reserve wines from earlier years. Each component is vinified separately before blending, with a small proportion of red Pinot Noir providing colour, structure and an extra dimension of flavour. Extended ageing in Krug's cellars brings the remarkable depth and integration that distinguish this Champagne. This is no delicate, straightforward pink fizz; it's a serious wine that just happens to have bubbles!
Wild strawberry, raspberry and blood orange meet rose petal, toasted brioche, ginger and a hint of savoury spice. The palate is wonderfully layered, with fine, persistent bubbles, vibrant acidity and a distinctive richness that unfolds beautifully in the glass. A subtle tannic grip gives the wine an almost Burgundian character, leading to a long, complex finish. Magnificent with duck, lobster, roasted poultry or even dishes with a little Asian spice. One of Champagne's most distinctive rosés, and a bottle worth taking your time over.
