Grapes: Predominantly Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon
Just north of Saint-Émilion, Château de Barbe Blanche sits on a limestone plateau where Merlot finds both depth and freshness. The estate, whose name translates to “White Beard,” is overseen by the Bernard family and reflects a thoughtful balance of tradition and modern precision. The wine embodies the quiet confidence of Lussac — generous, structured, and classically Bordeaux.
Fermented in temperature-controlled vats and aged in French oak, the wine achieves a harmony of supple fruit and gentle spice. The Merlot leads with plush texture and roundness, while Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon lend aromatic lift and backbone.
In the glass, aromas of plum, blackberry, and violet mingle with cedar and cocoa. The palate is smooth yet firm, showing ripe fruit balanced by freshness and fine-grained tannins. The finish lingers with savory depth — elegant, polished, and unmistakably Right Bank.
