Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir
After more than three decades making some of Burgundy's most celebrated wines at Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, François Millet decided it was time for a new adventure. Together with his son Adrien, he's created a small négociant project exploring some of the region's less obvious treasures. It's a rare opportunity to experience the expertise behind legendary Musigny in wines that don't necessarily come with a legendary price tag.
La Croix des Champs comes from Gevrey-Chambertin, a village famous for Pinot Noir with a little more muscle than its neighbours further south. The 2023 vintage brings generous fruit, while the Millets' careful approach in the cellar keeps the emphasis on balance and finesse. There's plenty of Gevrey character here, but with a wonderfully elegant touch.
Black cherry, raspberry and ripe plum meet violet, gentle spice and a little woodland earthiness. The palate has lovely depth, with fine but present tannins and refreshing acidity giving the wine structure. A savoury, slightly mineral note carries through the long finish, suggesting a Burgundy that will only become more interesting with time. Beautiful with roast duck, venison, wild mushrooms or a classic boeuf bourguignon.

- For returns of wines which are corked, please re-seal after tasting and return us the (nearly) full bottle. We cannot exchange if the bottle has been consumed.
