Rye, known as a cover crop (used primarily to benefit the growth of future crops and for other conservation purposes), plays a crucial role in this release. Some of the brand's finest rye whiskey barrels come from winter distillations and, as a result, were carefully chosen for this edition.
The nose opens with a harmonious bouquet of rye spice and dried fruit, complemented by hints of honeysuckle and mint. Beneath this initial layer, complex notes of dark chocolate and brown sugar emerge.
The first sip offers an unexpectedly sweet profile for a rye whiskey. While the traditional spice notes are present, they quickly yield to a harmonious medley of flavors led by dark mint chocolate and toffee.
