Grapes: 100% Cortese
La Mesma is the passion project of three sisters who swapped busy careers for the rolling vineyards of Piedmont. Together, they've built an organic estate dedicated to showing just how much personality the local Cortese grape can deliver. Their Yellow Label Gavi is a lovely introduction to the domaine, capturing the freshness and understated elegance that make this corner of northern Italy so appealing.
The 2023 is made from organically grown Cortese, with fermentation in stainless steel preserving the grape's delicate aromatics. Time resting on the lees adds a little extra texture, giving the wine more substance than you might expect from such a refreshing white. It's a classic Gavi with just enough character to keep things interesting.
Crisp green apple, lemon zest and ripe pear meet delicate white flowers and a subtle almond note. Light and lively, with a gentle mineral edge and a clean, dry finish that makes another sip almost inevitable. A wonderfully versatile white for seafood, grilled fish, fresh mozzarella or a big plate of linguine alle vongole. And frankly, just as good with a bowl of salty chips.
