Santa Maria La Nave is a small family estate with a passion for preserving the mountain's winemaking heritage. Calmarossa is a wonderful example of why Etna has become one of Italy's most exciting wine regions, offering the elegance of fine Burgundy with a distinctly Mediterranean twist.
The 2019 is made from Nerello Mascalese grown on Etna's volcanic slopes, where altitude and dramatic temperature changes help the grapes develop complexity without sacrificing freshness. Careful ageing allows the wine to develop texture and depth while keeping the character of the fruit firmly in the spotlight.
Wild cherry, raspberry and pomegranate meet dried rose petals, Mediterranean herbs and a little smoky spice. There's a lovely earthy quality beneath the fruit, with fine tannins and bright acidity carrying everything into a long, savoury finish. Elegant rather than powerful, this is a wine that rewards a little time in the glass. Beautiful with roast lamb, wild mushrooms, grilled pork or a classic Sicilian pasta alla Norma.

- For returns of wines which are corked, please re-seal after tasting and return us the (nearly) full bottle. We cannot exchange if the bottle has been consumed.
