Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir
From Tyler's very own Mae Estate Vineyard located on Highway 246, in the north corridor of the Sta. Rita Hills and planted in 2016. The soils here consist of Elder series loams over marine sedimentary rock below. The pinot noir sits to the eastern side, and also the upper slope of the field, on the darkest, most clay rich soils on the property which are most conducive to producing exceptional pinot noir.
On the nose: lifted aromas of wild red cherry, raspberry coulis, and pomegranate, framed by subtle floral notes of violet and rose petal. Underlying hints of forest floor, dried herbs, and a touch of cinnamon spice add complexity.
On the palate: bright, energetic red fruit — cranberry and bing cherry — with a fine-grained texture. There’s vibrant acidity that keeps the profile fresh, while savory notes of sous-bois, white pepper, and a whisper of cola root lend depth. The finish is long and focused, with silky tannins and a mineral thread that speaks clearly of cool-climate Sta. Rita Hills terroir.
